Gold Pricing Methodology
We believe in complete transparency. Here is exactly how we source, compute, update, and verify our gold and silver prices across global markets.
1. Real & Documented Data Sources
We never fabricate prices or publish sample rates as confirmed market figures. Our pricing infrastructure relies on three distinct layers:
- •Global Spot Bullion Feeds: Live international XAU (gold) and XAG (silver) prices are sourced hourly via LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) and COMEX benchmark data providers.
- •Pakistan Sarafa Bullion Benchmark: Rates for Pakistan reflect Karachi and Lahore bullion market association bulletins (via GoldRateInPakistan.org API), capturing domestic supply-demand dynamics and local premium levels.
- •India Bullion Benchmark: Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) settlements and IBJA reference benchmarks incorporating national import duties and GST factors.
2. Validated Conversion Standards
All weights and karat variations are derived using international standards:
3. Like-for-Like Price Change Logic
When displaying price movements (up, down, or unchanged), our system applies strict comparison rules:
- • Comparisons are strictly like-for-like: same country, currency, weight unit, purity, and data source.
- • Delta is computed against the immediately preceding verified fetch snapshot.
- • Increases display with a plus sign (+) and green indicator.
- • Decreases display with a minus sign (-) and red indicator.
- • Equal values display 0.00% without fabricated directional movement.
- • If no valid prior benchmark is recorded, we display “Change unavailable”.
4. Stale Data & Fallback Transparency
If an upstream market data provider experiences downtime or API latency:
- • We preserve the last verified value rather than crashing or showing zero.
- • The rate is labeled as “Delayed” or “Cached” with the timestamp of the last successful verification.
- • We never claim real-time streaming when data is updated on an hourly or daily batch schedule.
- • Algorithmic chart models are explicitly designated as indicative simulations.
5. Spot Value vs. Jewellery Retail Price
Consumers should be aware that the price of physical jewellery in retail stores differs from wholesale bullion spot prices:
Total Retail Jewellery Price = Pure Gold Value + Making (Wastage) Charges + Dealer Margins + Applicable Taxes (e.g., GST/VAT).
When reselling jewellery, jewelers calculate value exclusively on the metal content and karat purity, excluding the original making charges. Use our Gold Calculator to simulate total purchase costs with customized making charges.
